Will of John Fookes
28 Jan. 1809


Craven County State of North Carolina considering the uncertainty of this life 
but of sound and perfect mind and memory and I am now going on a journey and 
expect to be absent from the place I am and expect it may be a long time.  I 
do make and publish this my Last will and Testament in manner and form 
following to wit.  I give and devise unto my half brother John Austin all of 
my Lands lying on Neuse River and in Craven County together with all of my 
movable property to hold to him the said John Austin his heirs and assigns 
forever.  I hereby appoint the said John Austin sole Executor this my Last 
will and testament hereby revoking all former wills made by me In witness 
whereof I have hereunto  set my Hand and Seal this twenty eighth day of 
January eighteen hundred and nine

Craven County          March known as 1812
The Last Will and Testament for John Fookes was produced and the due execution 
thereof by the Testator was proved by the solemn affirmation by Henry Black 
one of the subscribing Witnesses who affirmed that he saw the Testator sign 
and seal and hear him declare said instrument his true and only Last will and 
testament and at the time thereof the Testator was of sound mind and memory 
Ordered to be recorded
