I Thomas Morris of Craven County, NC being in perfect sense and memory, thanks be to God for it, calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say, principally and first of all, I give my sould (sic) into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God, and as to making such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give and devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. ITEM 1. I lend one negro woman to my wife, Mary Morris, during her natural life and the increase of said negro, and after the death of my said wife, I give this said negro woman, and the increase of her to my son Thomas, to heirs and his heirs forever, and if the said Thomas should die the said negro woman and her increase to go to these children: Lewis, Sally, Ferebee and Temperance. ITEM 2. I give to my wife Mary one mare, bridle and saddle, 3 cows and calves and all my hogs and all my sheep and all my plantation tools and my plows. ITEM 3. I give to my son Lewis one negro named Joe and three cows and calves, to him and his heirs forever. ITEM 4. I give to my dau. Ferebee one negro named Lydia and three cows and calves. ITEM 5. I give to my dau. Sally one negronamed Ben Small and 3 cows and calves to her and her heirs forever. ITEM 6. I give my dau. Temperance, one negro named Tasket and three cows and calves, to her and her heirs forever. ITEM 7. I give to my dau. Leah Saunders, 4 head cattle to her and her heirs forever. ITEM 8. I give to my beloved wife, Mary, 3 feather beds, and furniture and also all my pewter and all my earthenware and all my kitchen furniture and grindstone and horse bells and sleigh, and all my crop of corn and wheat, and cotton and flax, and wools and carts and the cards and all my wheels and a box iron and hearth tongs and shovel and a loking glass and yoke of oxen and my horse. ITEM 9. I give to my sons Lewis and Thomas my cooper tools to be divided and to my son Lewis, my saddle and bridle also my carpenter tools and broad ax to be divided to Lewis and Thomas. ITEM 10. I lend my wife the use of my cattle till my son Thomas comes of age, to raise my children on and the use of all my horses, also and when my son, Thomas, comes of age, the cattle if any is to be found is to be equally divided among all my children. ITEM 11. I lend my wife the use of my plantation where I now live on during her being my widow, and no longer and also I give my wife my sider (sic) barrels, hogsheads, pails and tools. ITEM 12. I give to my son, Jonathan Morris, the plantation where I now live to his, his heirs and assigns forever, he to take possession of the plantation after the widowhood or marriage of my wife, but no part of the said land during the widowhood of my wife. ITEM 13. I give to my son Sampson 818 acres of land on the Rattle Snake to him, his heirs and assigns forever, and if in case my son Sampson should die without heirs lawfully begotten of him, this land to fall to my son Thomas Morris. ITEM 14. I give to my son, Thomas Morris, one mare called Flower, to him and his heirs forever. ITEM 15. I give to my dau. Nancy one negro man called Frank to her and her heirs forever. ITEM 16. I give to my dau. Elizabeth Russell one negro man called Ben, to her and her heirs forever. ITEM 17. I give to my dau. Rachel S. Keene one negro woman called Nano, and her increase and her heirs forever. ITEM 18. I give to my dau. Sarah Wadsworth one negro woman called Viney and her increase to her and her heirs forever. Lastly I nominate and appoint my trusty friends John Isler, Jr. and Mary Morris executors of this my last will and testament revoking and making void all other wills b me and in my manner heretofore made, rectifying and confirming this to be my last will and testament.
