All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Janet King JPerdue192@aol.com May 6, 2009, 8:52 am Source: Craven County Will Book Written: February 23, 1766 IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN - I James Perdue of the County of Craven and Province of North Carolina, being weak of Body but of Sound Mind and Memory, and Knowing there is a time appointed for all men to Die, Do of what it Hath Pleased God to Bless me with as to worldly Estate and dispense in the following manner vis; Item; I Give and Bequeath to my Loving wife, Anne Perdue, one feather bed with the furniture thereunto belonging, one (---) Iron, one Iron Pot, one Skillet and both trammels, one Griddle, to have and to hold and to be at her own Disposal after my decease. Item; I Give and Bequeath to my son Dennis Perdue, the Plantation where I now live, to him and his heirs lawfully begotten forever, making this reserve that my will and desire is that my wife Ann Perdue may live on it so long as she lives free from paying any rents or consideration for the same. I give and bequeath unto my son Dennis Perdue all my Carpenters and Coopers tools. Item, I give and Bequeath unto my son John Perdue, fifty acres of land laying and being in Craven County aforesaid and between the Plantation where I now live and George Fishers line tree. This is my Will and Desire that my wife Anne Perdue may have her third part of all the moveables belonging to the Estate that have not been already bequeath and the rest to be equally divided among my four daughters and daughter in law viz; Jane Connel, Mary Tolar, Lucy Perdue, Sarah Reed and Mary Perdue. And This my Will and Desire that my beloved wife Anne Perdue and my son Dennis Perdue may be wholy executrix and executor of this my last Will and Testament and whereas I do ratify and confirm this to be my last Will and Testament, disannulling all others that hath already been made by me. Given under my hand and seal this Twenty Third day of Febuary in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and sixty six.
