Abt 1724 Worcester Co., MD, d. 1774 Craven Co., NC; was a son of Hugh Tingle, Jr. and Comfort Fassett: Will of James Tingle: "In the name of god aman this 19th Day of October 1774 --- in the name of our Lord I JAMES TINGLE of Craven County Being verry sick and Weake in body but of a Perfect mind and memory thanks be given to god therefore calling to mind the mortallety of body and Knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die I do make and ordain this my Last will annd Testament that is to say Prinsoply and first of all I give and recommend my sole into the Hands of god that Gave it me and for my body I recommend it unto Earth to be burred in a Christan like manner at the Dischrecon of my Executors who I shall heareafter name nothing Doubting But at the Generall Resurrection I shall Receave the same again By the mighty Power of god and as Tuching such worly Estate as it Hath Please god to bless me with in this Life I give devise and Dispose of the same in the forme and manner as followith Imprimus _ _ _ I give and bequeath unto my loving wife ELIZABETH TINGLE one sorrel Horse whom I bought of John Vendrick Item I give unto my daughter RHODAY TINGLE the first foal that my gray mare Brings from this Time and all so I send her the use of the said mare untill she brings a fole and Rases it fit for servise all so I give her a fouar yeare Old Heffer marked with my one Proper marke for Ever I give all so to my Daughter RHODAY one feather Bed and all so three Pewter Plates ___ Item I give and Bequeath to my eldest son HUGH TINGLE the Plantation wheare on I now live and all the land there belonging now to him and his Heirs for Ever ___ I all so give unto my son HUGH TINGLE one young cow and yearling known by the name of Hugh's cow and all so my Hunting smoth bore gun Item I give bequeath unto my son JAMES TINGLE one Hundred acres of land lying in Craven County on the south side of Bay River be the same more or less by a deade from John Brothers and all so one small bore shoot gun one old white face cow and yearling and all so one young cow and yearling Item I give and bequeath unto my son JUSHAWAY TINGLE Four three yeare old heffers Item I give unto my daughter LEWSINDAY TINGLE one three yeare old Heffer and one Heffer yeare olde and all so I give her the Horse colt that sucks my mare that I have Lent the use of to my Daughter RHOADY Item I give and Bequeath unto my Loving wife six head of sheep and all so one cow of my one marke for Ever It is my Desire that the Red cow that I bought of Levi Dawson shall be Killed for the use of my family and all so my Tarkit shall be sold and ___ and ___ and fishing nets to be sold to pay my Just Debts It is my Desire that my wife shall Have the use of my Working Touls of all Kins for the use of the Plantation and all so my Four Beds and House Hold furniture till my daughter LEWSINDAY comes of the age of sixteen years then to be Eakelly Divided amoung my wife and children ___ Item It is my Desire to Constitute and make and ordain my Loving Brother Benjamin Williams and my Loving Brother JOSEPH TINGLE to be my hole and sole Executers to this my Last will and Testament this I acknowledge and no other to be my Last will and Testament in witness Where of I have heare set my hand and fixed my seale this day and yeare above Writing signed sealed and Delivered by the said JAMES TINGLE as his Last will and Testament (his JAMES mark) TINGLE in the Presence of Levi Dawson John (his Bedsot jun mark) ESAU (his TINGLE marke) December Craven Inferior Court 1774 Present His Majestys Justices The aforegoing last Will and Testament of JAMES TINGLE Deceased was duly Proved by the Oath of John Bed_ ___ witness who swore that he saw the Testator Sign Seal Publish and Declare the same to be and Contain his last will and Testament that at the Time thereof he was of Sound disposing Mind and Memory. at the same time Benjamin Williams one of the Executors therein named Qualified as Such --- Ordered that My Secretary have notice thereof that Letter Testamentory Have thereon accordingly Test Chrisr.
