Bef Sep 1793, Craven Co., NC and Unknown: Will of David Tingle: "State North Carolina Craven County In the name of God amen the 27th day of Septr. in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Three, I DAVID TINGLE of the County of Craven, being Sick and weak of Body, but of perfect mind and memory thanks be therefore Rendered to almighty God calling to mind the mortality of my Body, and Having that it is appointed for all men to die, I do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is to say principally and first of all I Give and Recommend my Soul into the hands of God, that Gives it, and for my body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a decent manner and as touching such worldly Estate as it has bee aside Gods to keep me with, I give and bequeath in manner and form following, that is to say--- Item, I Leave to my Loving wife PRUDENCE my plantation whereon I live and household and furniture, and all of my Stocks, and all of my Land, and my negro woman Dorcas during her Lifetime or widowhood--- Item I Give and bequeath unto my son WILLIAM the Lot of Land where my house Stands beginning at the Mulberry Branch and Running from thence to the Chair path so on to the Back line, also Tom and Elvira to him and his Heirs for ever--- Item I Give and bequeath unto my son ABIJAH two negro boys John & Jacob and the Tract of Land where his house Stands to be Equally divided he and SALLY and where his house Stands to be his party Item I Give and bequeath unto my daughter SALLY a Tract of Land adjoining of ABIJAH & ___ and a negro woman Cabbie to her and heirs for ever--- Item I Give and bequeath unto my Son JAMES all my Land below Masons Point also two negro Girls Fanny & Nanna to him and his Heirs for ever---- Item I Leave a negro Girl Peree to be Sold to pay my debts and Residue of the money to be Equally divided between my wife and Children--- And at my wifes death I want all of the household and furniture Tools and Stock and the negro woman Dorcas to be Sold and the money to be Equally divided among my Children and I do Leave make ordain Constitute and appoint my son ABIJAH & JAMES Executors of this my Last Will and Testament, hereby Revoking all former wills and bequeaths by me made and declaring this only to be my Last will and Testament, in witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and seal the day and year as first mentioned.
