[format lost in text conversion --er] In the Name of God amen, I Archelaus Weeks of Craven County and State of North Carolina being sick and weak in Body through though of sound mind and memory thanks be to God for it and calling to mind the uncertainty of this Life do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in Manner following, that is to say, I Will that my Body be Interred at the Descression of my Executor hereafter Named and my Just Debts and funeral Charges paid-- Imprimui I Will that so much of my Estate be sold by my Executor & Exors hereafter Named as will satisfy my Just Debts, of such part as they may think least Damage-- Item I Will that all the residue of my Estate be Valued by My Executrix and Executors and divided Equally in three Equal parts unless my Wife should prove with Child then in four parts and one of such parts so divided I Give and Bequeath to my Well Beloved Wife Abigail, and that such dividing do Extend to all my Estate real and personal, unless otherwise directed in this Will hereafter-- Item I Will that my Negroe Woman Hamack be in my Daugter Elizabeths part at the rate that she will be Valued-- Item I Give and bequeath to my Son in Law Gordius Ricketson a Three Year Old red Heifer To him his Heirs [and assigns] for ever-- Item I Will that a Lot of Ground I have in New Town in Onslow County be Sold in part to pay my Debts by my Executrix and Exors-- Lastly, I do Nominate and appoint my Well Beloved Wife Abigail my Executrix and my friends Emmanuel Simmons Esqr and Isaac Burnet Executor of this my last Will & Testament hereby revoking all other Wills by me Made Sealed In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand & Seal this fourth day of June in the Year 1778-- Signed Sealed published and Declared as his last Will } and Testament in Presence of us Archs Weeks {Seal} Lemuel Hatch Abigail Week Qualifed as Edmund Howard Exor~ thereunto-- Edw: Whitty [the following appears on the front of this Will] "Capt Arch L Weeks Last Will" Recorded in the Clerks Office of Jones County in book Anno 1 & page (195) one hundred ninety five J.T.
