Original Will, NC Archives In the Name of God, Amen I Willis Shipp of Craven County and the Province of North Carolina....State of Health But perfect sound mind and thankful to Almighty God for it having considered this transitory Life and that all men must die and at the Last Day Must give an account for, to Almighty God, for the Deeds done in the Body, I have saw fitt to make my Will, to dispose of what it hath pleased God to bestoe upon me In which first I do Rechomend my Soul to Almighty God in hopes of Eternal hapenefs and after that I desire that my Lawfull Executers paying my lawfull debts I shall give _____? and ______? to my wife MARY SHIPP one negro to wit ______? provided the said wench Bains child(?) be a year old which said child I give to my son READING SHIPP and his heirs forever ____ If said Winch should Bear no child I give _____ to my son READING SHIPP and his heirs upon the death or Widow Whood of my wife MARY SHIPP and the said Winch Bear a child that lives to be a year old the Winch and her increase I give to my wife MARY SHIPP and her heirs or assigns forever With all my lands Negroes goods and Chattels I give to my wife during her life or widow hood, and after her death or marriage to be given as follows Item - I do give and bequave unto my son JOHN SHIPP the plantation where I now live containing ____ and forty acres of Land with all the _____ Item - I bequave to my daughter ANNY SHIPP ____ with one feather bed _____ and after her death the Negro Liston(?) to fall to my son JOHN SHIPP and his heirs for Ever Item - I give and bequave to my daughter BETTY MOSELEY five shillings currency Item - I give to my daughter JEMIMAI GRANGER five shillings Item - I do give and bequave to my daughter MARY COWARD Two cows and Calves Item - I do give to my granddaughter ELIZABETH KILLPATRICK one cow and calf Item - I do give and bequave to my son WILLIAM SHIPP one Negro boy Named Jim to him and his heirs or assigns for Ever Item - All the Remainder of my Estate that is not mentioned in this Will to be equally divided Between my children as follows ANNY FRANKEY DREWRY WILLIAM and READING and if either or any of the five children should die without a Lawfull heir the Remainder of the Estate to be divided between the Surviving part of the five children In witnefs There of I have here unto set my hand and fixed my seal ___ December 1780.....______ THOMAS MOSELEY with my son (JOHN ?)SHIPP & MARY SHIPP Executors......this to be my Last Will _____all other wills or gifts Witnefs Teste SHADE ALLEN SARAH ALLEN JOHN ALLEN Signed: Willis Shipp State of N.C.
