The 1850 Census of Moore County, NC lists: Household 664 McKeithan, Archibald 66 M NC Farmer Frances 35 F NC Neill 11 M NC Duncan 4 M NC Sarah M 1 F NC Willie married his wife Rebecca in 1879. In the 1880 Census of Harnett County, North Carolina, there was this listing: William McKithan M 30 NC NC NC Rebecca McKithan F 24 NC NC NC Fannie McKithan F 55 NC NC NC Mother Willie and Rebecca has the following children: 1. Francis "Fannie" Ann B: Aug. 13, 1880 D: Feb. 5, 1948 2. John B: Dec. 13, 1832 D: May 12, 1836 3. Neil Archie B: Oct. 5, 1884 D: Dec. 22, 1961 4. Daniel Parker B: Sept. 6, 1886 D: July 20, 1962 5. George Duncan B: Oct. 25, 1888 D: Jan. 29, 1939 6. James Parker B: April 1, 1891 D: Nov. 5, 1980. The following information concerning this family comes from the Register of Deeds/Vital Statistics in Cumberland Co. NC : James Oscar Collins, son of David and Elizabeth Collins (both deceased) and Francis (Fannie) Ann McKethan, daughter of William and Rebecca McKethan (both deceased) were married on September 9, 1906 in Cumberland County, NC. Frances (Fannie) Ann McKethan Collins was born on August 13, 1880 and died on Feb. 5, 1948. Burial was in Cumberland Cemetery, Cumberland County, NC. James Oscar Collins was born on March 3, 1884 in South Carolina and died on Sept. 8, 1961. Burial was in Cumberland Cemetery, Cumberland County, NC. Both were survived by 3 of their 4 children: Bernice Collins, Robert Glennie and George Calviness. July 2, 1896 D: Jan. 1989) and 6 of their 9 children: Naomi Lockamy, Beatrice Allen, James William McKeithan, Jasper Barnett (b: Oct. 1925-D: July 6, 2001), Grady McKeithan and Virginia Mae Page. they both were pre-deceased by the following children: Paul Daniel McKeithan B: Mar. 1, 1921--D: July 7, 1922, Kenneth Odell McKeithan B: June 27, 1923 D: Dec. 21, 1923, and Carl David McKeithan B: Sept. 22 1928 D: Sept. 24,1928 ------------------------------------------ Neil Archie MxKeithan, son of William & Rebecca (Pardue) McKethan (both deceased) and Sarah"Sallie" Elizabeth Hart, daughter of Harvet E. and Georgie Ann Hart of Manchester, NC were married on Dec. 25, 1910. Officiating officer: Rev. David Fairley. From Hoke County, NC Vital Stat. Rec's Neil Archie was born on Oct. 5, 1884 and died on Dec. 22,1961. Burial in Raeford Cemetery, Hoke Co. Sarah "Sallie" Elizabeth Hart McKeithan was born on June 3, 1893 and died on Nov. 3, 1971. Burial in Raeford Cemetery, Hoke Co. Both were survived by 9 of their 10 children: Wesley Lawrence, Blanch Evelyn, Willie Harvey, Lela Bella, Margaret Eunice, Merle Frances, Sarah Neal, Cecil Wayne, and Eloise Cornelia Predeceased by one child, Walter Raleigh B: Jan. 22, 1923 D: Feb. 17, 1923 ------------------------------------------ Daniel Patrick McKethan was born on Sept. 6, 1886; parents were William & Rebecca (Pardue) McKethan and died on July 20, 1962. Burial: Lafayette Park, Cumberland Co. Survived by his wife Ruby Rilla McKethan ------------------------------------------ On July 7, 1907, George Duncan McKeithan (son of the late Willie and Rebecca Pardue McKeithan) married Harriett Geneva Smith (daughter of Jessie and Amanda Smith of Rockfish, NC). Albert Wade was the officiating officer. Witnesses present at the marriage were: A.G. Vaughn of Cumberland County, A. Vestal of Winston-Salem, and A.T. Davis of Cumberland County. FUNERAL SERVICES FOR ROCKFISH MINISTER Funeral services were held for Rev. George D. McKeithan, 50 who died Sunday (Jan. 29, 1939) in a local hospital (Highsmith Rainey). He was born on October 25, 1888. He was a well known merchant of Cumberland County for a number of years until his entry into the ministry. At the time of his death, he was pastor of Pittman Grove Church in Rockfish. Rev. McKeithan was survived by his wife, Harriett Geneve Smith McKeithan; one son, George Duncan McKeithan; and one daughter, Betty Ruth McKeithan. He was buried at Cumberland Cemetery, Cumberland County, NC. Harriett Genevie McKeithan died on November 9, 1951. Mrs. McKeithan was born on November 28, 1891, her parents were the late Jesse and Amanda Smith of Rockfish, N.C. Mrs. McKeithan is survived by one son George D. McKeithan, and one daughter Betty Ruth M. Jackson. Burial was in Cumberland Cemetery, Cumberland County, NC. ------------------------------------------ Amanda Ward Smith born 1873, died Aug. 10, 1938. She was the daughter of Matthew and Harriet Allen Smith. Burial was in Cumberland Cemetery, Cumberland County, NC. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. W.J. Hales, Mrs. B.F. Morgan, and Mrs. G.D. McKeithan; one son, J.B. Smith; and four step-sons, J.A. Smith, B.F. Smith, D.W. Smith, and M.J. Smith. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.C. Williams at the Methodist Church in Cumberland. Burial in Cumberland Cemetery, Cumberland County. NC. ------------------------------------------ Leslie Earl Jackson (son of Ellis Jackson and Nancy Sealey Jackson) and Betty Ruth McKeithan (daughter of George D. McKeithan, Sr. (deceased) and Harriett Geneva Smith Jackson) were married on Dec. 20, 1947. Officiating officer: Rev. C.W. Myrick witness present: W.C. Sealey of Parkton, W.B. Jackson of Parkton, and Carol Myrick of Rockfish. Leslie Earl Jackson was born on May 3, 1928 (Parents Ellis and Nancy Sealey Jackson). Mr Jackson died on July 21, 1997 at Cape Fear Medical Center in Cumberland Co. He was survived by his wife Betty Ruth McKeithan Jackson and two daughters, Brenda Harriett Norton and Angela Nan Tyndall. Burial in Cumberland Cemetery, Cumberland County, NC. Betty Ruth McKeithan was born on Oct. 14, 1929 (parents George Duncan McKeithan and Harriett Geneva Smith McKeithan) in Cumberland Co., NC. Mrs. Jackson died in August 2001 at Cape Fear Medical Center in Cumberland Co., NC. She is survived by two daughters: Brenda Harriett Norton and Angel Tyndall, one brother: George Duncan McKeithan, Jr. Burial in Cumberland Cemetery, Cumberland County, NC.
