Cumberland County, NC - Breece Cemetery Breece Cemetery On a trip back there in 2000 I finally located the little burial ground, surrounded by a rusty iron gate and two absolutely beautiful marble stones, well protected by the elements due to the trees. The site is on a strip of land between the freeway (I-95) and a housing tract. Kids sometimes go into the woods there but I doubt anyone will ever "come across it" unless they’ve been there before. The Breece family is fairly well known in the area, the graves are of the widow of the civil war soldier Joseph Breece and one of their sons. Ida Elizabeth (Barfield, not on the stone) Breece "Wife of Joseph Breece" Born October 11, 1824 Died October 4, 1876 "Rest mother rest, be quiet, sleep while friends in sorrow o’er thee weep" And Samson Frederick Breece Son of Joseph & Ida E. Breece Born June 8, 1853 Died April 1 1895 "Beyond the bar we'll meet again The loved ones missed so long And with them sing forever more unending song" ______________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
