A majority of the Acting Justices being present; It is ordered, that the Chairman of this Court be authorized to borrow, on the faith of the County, from either of the Banks in this place, a sum not exceeding $20,000, which sum shall be placed in the hands of a committee of one from each Captain’s District. And the said committee are authorized to invest the same in provisions for the use of the Poor of the County not under immediate charge of the Wardens of the Poor. And particularly for the use of the families of such volunteers as may be compelled to leave their homes in the present crisis. And the said committee are authorized to sell at cost to such as can pay, and to distribute gratuitously to such as can not, in reasonable quantities, as in their judgment they may think proper. And it is further ordered, that the Chairman be authorized to borrow, in addition, a sum of money, for the purpose of equipping such volunteers as are not able to equip themselves, not exceeding $25 each. And that the said funds be placed in the hands of H. L. Myrover, G. W. I. Goldston and N. A. Stedman, to be disbursed by them. Resolved by the Magistrates, that any who leaves or may volunteer for the war, their families shall be provided for in their absence.
