                    FAYETTEVILLE TOWN MEETING - 1826
   In conformity to a previous request of the Magistrate of Police, the 
citizens of this place assembled in town meeting on Monday afternoon last, at 
the Town Hall, for the purpose of making suitable arrangements relative to the 
celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Independence of the United States.
   The meeting was organized on motion of DR. ROBINSON, "That LOUIS D. HENRY, 
Magistrate of Police, be called to the Chari, and ALEXANDER H. McRAE, be 
appointed Secretary," which was agreed to. -- On MR. HENRY'S assumption of the 
chair, he explained in a concise manner the object of the meeting.
   When, on motion, it was resolved that a Committee of Arrangement be 
appointed, and that said Committee consist of 15 members, to be nominated from 
the chair; which was agreed to -- when the following persons were nominated.
