   -- The Law of the department having made it the duty of the Magistrate of 
Police annually to appoint a Chief Fire Warden and Assistants for the year. He 
has, in pursuance thereof appointed the following persons viz.:
     ASSISTANT FIRE WARDENS: JOHN HUSKE, CHIEF FIRE WARDEN; SIMEON BELDEN, 
DUNCAN McRAE, ESEK ARNOLD; JOHN W. WRIGHT; HUGH CAMPBELL; JOHN H. HALL.
     The captains of the Fire Engine Companies are hereby required to report 
the number of buckets that belond to their respective companies, the state of 
their engines and the condition of their companies to the Commissioner at an 
adjourned meeting to be held by them on Thurday, the 1st day of February next
 -- that measures may be adapted for supplying every means necessary to render 
them efficient.
     The Commissioners have appointed the following persons on the Committee 
of Vigilance for the several wards, viz.:
     Ward No. 1 - SAMPSON BOON, ARCH'D McLAUGHLIN, FOUNTAIN LANE
     Ward No. 2 - JOHN CRUSOE, JAMES BAKER, THOMAS N. CAMERON
     Ward No. 3 - PETER J. MALLETT, ISHAM BLAKE SR., JOHN D. STARR
     Ward No. 4 - JOHN DOBBINS, JOHN KELLY, JOHN CLARK, JOHN HUSKE
     Ward No. 5 - JOHN ECCLES, JOHN STRONG, JAS. H. HOOPER
     Ward No. 6 - JOSHUA CARMIN, JOHN McLERAN, LAWRENCE FITZHARRIS
     Ward No. 7 - JOHN KELLY, JAMES MILLE, DAVID D. SIMON
