April 6, 1819, Edenton Gazette April 6, 1819 RALEIGH-- A man by the name of BAKER was brought to this place and lodged in our jail a few days ago. The public are indebted to the vigilence of M. M'RAE of Fayetteville, (one of the best post-masters in the United States) and the assiduous enterprise of MR. LUTHER of Moore County, for the apprehension of this old offender. BAKER, it is believed, has twice deserted from the Army, and has two or three wives. He was concerned (as he accomplice confesses) in the robbery of the mail between Fayetteville and Lumberton. -- He has several times altered his name. -- We forbear to state more till after the trial. -- Raleigh Star-- 26th ult.
