JAMES TOWNES, merchant of Cheraw, and lately of Fayetteville, was traveling toward Raleigh,m his trucnk cut loose from his gig, about six miles from Fayetteville, at mid-day, and has not been heard of. -- Travellers would do well to be upon their guard as some lurking villians are suspected of investing the neighborhood. -- Since the above was in type, we have been informed that the trunk, broken open, but containing the wearing apparel and papers of CAPT. TOWNES, was found within a mile of this place. The robber was disappointed in finding any money, had abandoned his prize.
