Cumberland County, NC - Joseph Rountree, 1817 Fayetteville, NC - Dec. 26 A man by the name of Joseph Rountree, stating himself to have come from Wake County, was committed to jail a few days since, as a counterfeiter. It appears that he had in his possession and had passed to divers persons in this town, a quantity of spurious due-bills of the Raleigh Academy. He rather anticipated his fate too seriously, and on Friday hung himself in the prison.
