All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: N Miles bittersweet3@yahoo.com March 22, 2011, 1:54 am Fayetteville Gazette - Tuesday, November 6, 1792 1792 Since the last fire in this town, a laboring man, by the name of William Crawford, who has a wife and family in town, has been missing: several persons recollected to have seen him in Col Dekeyser's house, apparently intoxicated, but a few minutes before the roof fell in; suspicions were entertained that he was burnt, though a report was circulated that he had been seen within a few miles of town, with a parcel of goods, supposed to have been stolen during the fire, which, from several circumstances obtained credit - until Wednesday last, as some persons were clearing the cellar where Col Dekeyser's house stood, they found a human scull and some remains of most of the bones of a human body, which puts it out of all doubt that he perished in the flames.
