May 16, 1857 North Carolina Argus FOR THE ARGUS FAYETTEVILLE, MAY 13, 1857 At a meeting of the Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry Company, held yesterday, the following resolutions of repect were unanimously passed. Whereas, We have heard with sincere regret of the untimely death of our fellow soldier, WM. R. WILLY, Therefore, Resolved, That in his death our corps has lost one of its most active and efficient members, one who by his kindness of heart and social qualities had won the esteem and affection of his brothers-in-arms. Resolved, That while we deplore the loss of him who has occupied the relation to us of friend and fellow soldier only, we can more fully appreciate and sympathize in the bereavement of his family, who have been deprived of one bound to them by the tenderest ties. Resolved, That as a mark of respect to his memory we wear the usual badge of mourning for 30 days. Resolved, That the Secretary be directed to send a copy of these resolutions to the family of the deceased and also to the editors of the town papers, with request to publish.
