Will of Joseph Adams

Cumberland County, NC Original Wills, State Archives of North Carolina, Raleigh, 
NC [Original Only].
Devised November 7, 1783,
Proven November 8, 1783.

In the Name of God the 7th Day of November 1783.
I Joseph Adams Late of Cumberland County in the province of No C[a]rolina planter 
being weak in Body but perfect mind and Memory thanks be to God for the Same 
Calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and it is appointed for all men once to 
Die I Do make and ordaine this my Last Will and Testament.
First of all I give my Soul into the Hands of God that gave it me Nothing 
Doubting at the Generall Resur[r]ection to Rece[i]ve it again by the Mighty power 
of God and my Body to the Earth to be Buraid [buried] in a Decent and C[h]ristian 
maner [manner] at the Discretion of My Exors and as for Worley [worldly] Estate 
as it has please God to Bless me with I Dispose with of in the following Manner 
and form.
Item I give and Bequeath to Mary Waid one Cow and Two Hefers and two year and 
lamb.
Item I give and bequest to proudence my loving Da[u]g[h]ter prudence Falkner one 
Black mare.
Item I Give and beque[a]th to my beloving wife Susanna Adams the land and 
plantation During life or widow hode [widowhood] and all the Rest of my 
perishebel [persishable] Estate for Ever.
I Do hereby Constitute and appoint my beloved wife Susanna Adams to be Exor of 
this my last Will and Testament. I Do hereby Revoak [revoke] Disanull and 
Disallow all other forms Wills and Testaments this and no other to be my last 
Will and testament in Witness Hearof [hereof] I have Set my hand and Seal.
