He moved to Cumberland Co., NC from Robeson Co., NC about 1848. Rev. War Pension File # R5952. ------------------------------- Cumberland County, North Carolina Wills Vol. C-D 1842-1868 Book C, page 233 Will of James King State of North Carolina - Cumberland County In the name of God amen. I James King of the county and state aforesaid being feeble in body from the effects of old age, but of sound mind and memory, but impressed with the uncertainty of life do make ordain and publish this my last will and testament as follows to wit First I give and bequeath unto my wife the use and services of my negro man Harry during her natural live and widowhood but no longer than her widowhood. Also One hundred dollars of money, one horse called Tom, one cow and calf, one bed and furniture, one chest and spinning wheel and (cards?), also so much of Two hundred and fifty acres of land on which I now reside as she shall be entitled to by law during her natural life. 2nd I give and bequeath to each of my children one dollar. 3rd I give and bequeath to my grandson James son of David King Two hundred fifty acres of land on which I now reside subject to such life interest in the same as the law may (invest?) my widow. 4th I give and bequeath to my grandson Lorenzo eldest son of David King my negro man Harry after the death of my wife or otherwise at the termination of her widowhood. 5th I give to my grand daughter Lucinda daughter of David King all the money that remains after my funeral expenses the bequest to my wife already named and other just debts are paid which may be derived from the sale of the (pens table?) property or that may be collected from other sources or that may be on hand at my death, and lastly I do nominate and appoint my son David King and Neill Sinclair of Roberson County Executors to this my last will and testament and do hereby empower them to do all necessary acts to carry the same into effect.
