Devised February 7, 1831, Proven June Term, 1831. In the name of God Amen, I George Stuart of the County of Cumberland and State of North Carolina being of sound and perfect mind and memory (blessed be God) do this seventh day of Feabruary [February] in the year of Our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and thirty one make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say – First I lend to my beloved wife Rebeckah Stuart all my land and plantation where I now live, during her natural life or widowhood and then the said land to be sold and the money ariseing from said sail [sale] to be equally divided amongst my lawfull heirs. Also I give and bequeath to my said wife Rebeckah as her own right One Negro woman named Judith togeather [together] with all my household and kitchen furniture plantation utentials [utensils] and working tools only excepting one bed and furniture. Item I give to my son James Stuart one Negro boy by the name of Harry. Also I give to my son John Stuart One Girle named Dyce and her increase if any. Also I give to my son Charles Stuart one boy named Ica. Also I give to my son George Stuart one Girl named Annaca. Also I give to my daughter Edith Wommach one boy named Sam. Also I give to my son William Stuart one boy named Ephram. Also I give to my daug[h]ter Nancy Spence One Girl named Silve. Also I give to my daughter Mary Stuart One Girl named Esther, one feather bed and fornetur one cow and calf and thirty Dollars in money. Also I give to my son Isaiah Stuart one boy named Ned, and fifty dollars in money. I also give to my wife Rebeckah Stuart her choicest horse two cows and all my Stock of hogs and sheep and all my flock Geese and fifty dollars in money. I also leave one Negro Man by the name of Edmund to be sold and all the residue of my Estate not above namd after my Jest debts are paid the[n] the remainder of the money if any to be equally divided between William, Mary, and Isaiah Stuart, and I hereby make and ordain my son William Stuart and my Brother James Stuart Exetutors [Executors] of this my last will and testament. In Witness whereof I the said George Stuart to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this day and year above written. Signed Sealed published and declared by the said George Stuart the testator as his last will and testament in the presents of us who were present at the time of signing and sealing thereof Zachariah Cofield George Stuart (Seal) Stephen (x) Rogers June Term 1831.
