North Carolina ss. Att a Councill holden att the house of Major Jno. 
Hecklefield in Little  River on the 10th day of Augt. 1714. Present Charles 
Eden Esqr. Governor Capt. General and Admirall etc. The Honorable Thos. 
Pollock, Thos. Boyd, N. Chevin, Wm. Reed, C. Gale, Esqrs. Lds. proprietors 
Deputys.

Complaint being made to this Board by Wm. Bell Treasurer of the Precinct of 
Carratuck that Samuell Ballance, Wm. Ballance, Robert Smyth, Andrew Mcfarson, 
and Danll. Mcfarson, all of the aforesaid precinct of Corratuck, have and 
still doth utterly refuse to pay unto the said Treasurer their publick levy's 
and other puclick dues or to pay any obedience to this Government.

Wherefore it is hereby ordered that the provost Marshall of the County of 
Albemarle or his Deputy doe take them the said Samll. Ballance, Wm. Ballance, 
Rob. Smyth, Andrew Mafarson, and Danll. Mcfarson, into his custody and them 
hold till they give good security to appeare at the next Generall Court to 
answer the said contempt.
