Currituck County, NC - Thomas Jarvis ----¤¤¤---- REVOLUTIONARY WAR PENSION APPLICATION AMENDMENT - THOMAS JARVIS State of North Carolina Carrutuck County On this the 6th day of May 1833 personally appeared in open court before us John Jon??? and Benjamin T. Simmons and William Braig???? Justices of the Court of Pleas and ????? ????? for the county of Carrutuck and State of North Carolina, Thomas Jarvis resident of said county who being duly sworn made this amended declaration to a declaration made on the 12th day of September 1832 and to which this is attached in presence of the Court. Thomas Jarvis being sworn deposeth to the interrogater prescribed by the War Dept. as follows. 1st Interrogation: Where and on what year were you borne? Answer by Jarvis: From the best of my recollection of the record of my age I was borned in the year 1755. 2nd Interrogation: Have you any record of your age and if so where is it? Answer by Jarvis: I had a record of my age but it has been lost or destroyed. 3rd Interrogatory: Where were you living when ca???? into service where have you lived since the Revolutionary War and where do you now live. Answer by Jarvis: When I first enlisted the service I lived in Hyde County in this State. I left Hyde County in 1779 and came to Carrutuck County where I again entered the service and have continued to reside in said county ever since the Revolutionary War. 4th Interrogatory: The Court think are sufficiently answered in the former Decleration - To the 6th Interrogatory. Jarvis states that he recalled his commission as Lt. and afterwards as Captain from General Isacc Gregory and kept them for some time after the Revolutionary War but thinking them of no value had lost or destroyed them. (In the original deposition a Foster Jarvis makes oath that he believes Thomas Jarvis to be 77 years of age. Who Foster is in relation to Thomas is not given.
