(2006) Mrs. Marks was born at Powells Point, N.C., a daughter of the late Kenneth W. and Cora Hayman Waterfield. A registered nurse, Mrs. Marks worked private duty for more than 30 years, and at Raiford and Southampton Memorial hospital. She was a member of Capron United Methodist Church, a gifted artist working in water colors, and an avid bridge player. She was an upstanding member of the community and enjoyed the company of friends and family while entertaining at home. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Benjamin Edward Marks; her daughter, Priscilla M. Vick and husband Melvin of Sedley; her son, Benjamin Edward Marks Jr. and wife Wanda of Courtland; four grandchildren, Amy Rutledge, Holly Mein, John Trew and Joshua Marks; four great-grandchildren, Brett and Blake Rutledge, Katie and Clay Mein; her housekeeper, Ruth Ellsworth; three half-brothers, Sam, Kenneth and George Waterfield; a special niece, Elinor Eiban and husband Conrad; and numerous other nieces and nephews. A funeral was held April 13 at Capron United Methodist Church with the Rev. James M. Smith officiating. Burial followed in Capron Cemetery.
