Samson Simmons - 1785 - Currituck County, NC - Will Submitted for use in the USGenWeb Archives by Jim Simmons SAMSON SIMMONS WILL Currituck County, North Carolina (Will Book 1, Pages 191,2) In the name of God, Amen. The sixth day of June in the year of our Lord 1770. I, Samson Simmons of Currituck County in the Province of North Carolina, a Planter, being very sick and weak in body, but of perfect and sound disposing mind & memory thanks be given unto God, therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body knowing that it is appointed for all men onst to die, do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave life unto my body. I recommend to the earth be buried in Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my executors hereinafter named. Nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mity power of the God and touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me within this life. I give, devise, and dispose of the same in the following manner & form. Item I lend the use of all my estates & tenements, goods & chattels indoors and out to my dear and well beloved wife, Mary Ann Simmons during her natural life and after decease to be equally divided among my six children, Thomas, Sarah, John, Caleb, Mary and Jesse and I do hereby further dispute, ordain, constitute and appoint my said loving wife Mary Ann Simmons my only and sole executrix of this my last Will & Testament & do hereby utterly disallow, revoke, and disanul all & every other testaments, wills and legacies, requests and executors by me in any way before this time named, willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day & year above written.
