Taylor, Thomas - 1818 - Currituck County, NC - Wills Submitted for use in the USGenWeb Project Archives by John Laird A will for Thomas Taylor, dated May 5, 1815 and filed February 1818, from Willbook 3, p. 100, follows in its entirety: "The last will and Testament of Thomas Taylor, deceased. Exhibited and proved at February Term, 1818. In the name of God, amen. I, Thomas Taylor, of the county of Currituck (survivor) being very sick and weak in ov(?) in perfect health of body (ov?) and of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God, calling to mind the mortality of my body, knowing that is (?) once appointed for all men to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to day, and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of the Almighty that gave it me, and my body I recommend to the earth, to be buried at the discretion of my executors, nothing doubling, but at the general resurrection, I shall receive the same again, by the Almighty power of God that gave it me, and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased give (?) to bless me in this life, I give, dismiss and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First I give and bequeath to my son James Taylor all my lands on the west side of the roads, beginning at a gum binding on Josiah Taylor's land, thense to a dogwood binding Adam Poyner's land to James Taylor his heirs executors administrators and assigned forever. I give to my son Trimegan Taylor all my lands on the east side of the road, excepting the cypress swamp, to him and his heirs, Executors, administrators, and assigned forever; Also that said James Taylor shall have privilege to get rail timber for the old plantation's use if needed. The horses to be equally divided between my two sons. All the remainder of my stock, household and kitchen furniture to be equally divided amongst my daughters, freely to be theirs after my death. Ratifying this to be my last will and testament, revoking and renouncing all other instruments of writing. In witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal in the year of our Lord this May the seventh one thousand eight hundred and fifteen.
