Taylor, Ebenezer - 1798 - Currituck County, NC - Wills Submitted for use in the USGenWeb Project Archives by John Laird A will for Ebenezer Taylor, dated January 27, 1798 and filed March 26, 1798, from Willbook 2, p.116. It should be noted that the Gordon Jones book of Currituck abstracts does not list son Joshua. The will follows, in its entirety, including misspellings, and punctuation that did not always appear to make sense: "In the name of God Amen I Ebenzer Taylor of the County of Currituck & State of North Carolina calling to mind the none certainty of this Life, & being ordained once and [unclear word] all other to Die. Do make & ordain this Instrument of writing to contain by last Will & Testament in manner and form as follows; First, that is to say I Recomend my Soul to Allmighty God that gave it. and my body to be Decently buried in a place where it should please my Executors hereafter named. and as what Estate it hath been please God Bestow me. I give & Dispose in manner followeth. First my Will and desire is that my loving wife Susannah should have the use of all my Estate boath real & personal during her Widowhood or Death. And after my aforesaid wife's widowhood or Death. I give unto my Son Joshua the whole Tracks of Land that I bought of James Duglas lying in Cowinjock joining Asahel (?) Simmons Deceased. Then I Give unto my Son George the whole track of Land that I bought of Thom. Brumsey Joining John Fishers lying in Cowinjock. The Remainder part of my moveable property to be equally Divided between my to Daughters Lydia & Levinia after my Wife's Widowhood or Death. I also constitute and appoint my loving Wife Susannah and Friend Thos. Taylor my hole & sol Executors to this my last will & Testament, to see all my Estate settled according to this my last will & the Law should require as witness my Hand & Seal this 27th day of January 1798.
