Thurs., Sept. 23, 1858   North Carolina Argus September 23, 1858
   The mill, steam engine for sawing and tan buildings of DAVID MAFFETT, two 
miles from Thomasville, Davidson County, were destroyed by fire on last 
Thursday night. Most of the stock, books, etc. were saved. The fire occurred 
by accident. The sufferer is a very worthy man, and his loss, about $4,000, is 
a serious one -- Carolina Watchman
