Sept. 12, 1845    Charlotte Journal
  JOHN CLEMENT, Clerk of Davidson County Court, was suddenly struck down in a 
fit (we presume of apoplexy) on Friday, the 29th ult., while attending to his 
duties in the Court House. He lingered without speaking until the next morning 
and expired.
