She was the mother of Lucille Brown of 208 Peacock Ave, Lexington. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 PM in Mt Carmel Freewill Baptist Church by the Rev Leon Simmons and the Rev Robert Heger. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Concord. Mrs Coley was born April 22, 1897 in Davie County to William and Dora Orrell Brindle. She was a member of Mt Carmel Freewill Baptist Church in Lexington and the senior adult class of the church Sunday school. She was a retired employee of Cannon Mills, retiring after 35 years of service. In 1914 she married James Earl Powers who died in 1951. She later married William Harrison Coley who died in 1980. Surviving in addition to the daughter of Lexington are two other daughters, Ella Griffin of 11 Pine Street and Bertha Millican of Charleston, SC; three sons, Robert of Mt Holly, William Bill Powers of Charlotte, and Charlie Powers of York, SC; a stepdaughter Annie Bell Miller of Salisbury, 61 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 28 great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at J C Green and Sons Funeral Home and other times at the home of Ella Griffin 11 Pine Street and the home of Lucille Brown 28 Peacock Avenue, Lexington. Note: Recie Coley was the sister of Lewis F Brindle above. She was the mother of ten children: William Lewis, Ella Dora Griffin, James Harvey, Jonas Cecil, Bertha Bell, Robert Earl, Lucille Brown, Mary Elizabeth, Charlie and John Marvin Powers.
