Fatal Attempt to Escape.---A Confederate soldier from Davidson county, named 
Hicks, was instantly killed on the Railroad near Thomasville, Saturday 
evening, by attempting to escpe from the cars while the train was running.  He 
had been convicted of some offence and was being sent here for imprisonment.  
He was caught under the wheels and mangled in a most shocking manner.---
