Return to the NCGenWeb Archives Table of Contents http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm#NC ************************************************************************ Davidson County Will Book A pgs 403-404 as written: Robert Blackburn's will State of North Carolina Davidson County Know all men by those presents that I, Robet Blackburn,blessed be God,being of sound mind and memory but in a low state of health,do ordain and constitute this my last will and testament.(to wit) I will and bequeath to my beloved wife all my plantation and tractof land whereon I now reside for her nayural life time or so long as she remains my widow and at her death or marriage,I will and bequeath that my said tract of land be equally divided according to valuation between my three sons,Hervey,Milton and Costin.I further will and bequeath to my son Hervey,the bellows and anvill that he manually works on and one half of whatever other blacksmith tools may be on hand except my vise and I further will and bequeath to my son Costin the other bellows and anvill and the vise and the one half of whatever other blacksmith tools may be on hand to be divided by some uninterested workman. I further will and bequeath to my son Milton fifty dollars in cash to be paid out of any money on hand or paid as soon as it can be collected.I further will and bequeath to my beloved wife all of my household and kitchen furniture and all of the stock of horses,cattle and hogs and sheep and all property noted herein before disposed of for her own use in her natural lifetime or as long as she remains my widow and at her death or marriage to be sold or divided equally between my sons, Hervey, Milton and Costin. If my sons sell the properties, the proceeds of said sale to be equally divided between them and further ordain and constitute my beloved wife my sole executrix to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 1st day of October 1841. In presence of: William R.
