DAVIDSON COUNTY, NC - WILLS - Melchoir Darr, 28 Feb 1828 ----¤¤¤---- Book of wills, pg. 240, Davidson Co.,NC Will of Melchoir Darr ca. 1834 1752 - 1834 In the name of God, Amen, I Melker Darr of the County of Davidson and State of North Carolina being of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament revoking all other wills heretofore made by me and do hereby will and devise and bequeath my estate in the following manner-- First, I will and bequeath to my son Henry Darr the plantation that I bought of Wm Linn which my son Henry Darr sold to Jesse Hargrave containing seventy five acres be it the same more or less which I value at the price of three hundred and seventy five dollars. I also will him seventy eight dollars worth of property which he has already received. Seventhly (Secondly) I will and bequeath to my son Melkar Darr the plantation whereon he now lives containing two hundred acres which I value at the price of five hundred dollars. I also will to my son Meldar Darr fifty acres of land adjoining the land above willed to said Melkar Darr that I bought of Jonathan Roberts provided that he pays to my daughter Christina Grimes the wife of Godfrey Grimes the sum of one hundred and thirteen dollars. Thirdly I will and bequeath to my son William Darr the plantation whereon I now live containing one hundred acres and I also will to my son William Darr all my land adjoining the lands of that belonging to the heirs of Christian Lookabell dec., and John M. Smith and Philip Hedrick containing one hundred and thirty acres. I also will him my Blacksmith tools and my dresser which land and property I value at the price of five hundred dollars. Fourthly if my son Melkar Darr does not agree to pay to my daughter Christena Grimes the sum of one hundred and thirteen dollars within three years after my decease the fifty acres of land above willed to him shall belong to my daughter Christena Grimes. Fifthly I will and bequeath to my daughter Barbara Hedrick the wife of Jacob Hedrick the negro girl named Lucy which they have in possession at this time which I value at the price of one hundred and thirteen dollars. I further will that all the money I may possess at my decease and debts due by note or otherwise to be equally divided between my two daughters Christena Grimes and Barbara Hedrick. Sixthly, I will that my exacutors hereafter to named shall sell at publick sale all the undevised property I may be possessed of and after paying my just debts the money accruing from the sale of said property to be divided between my two daughters Christena and Barbara, Seventhly I do hereby nominate and appoint my son William Darr sole executor of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this twenty eighth day of February eighteen hundred and twenty eight.
