I John Delapp, senr. of Davidson County, and State of No. Carolina, being of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following: First, I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife, Margarot, the whole of my landed property, not othervise desposed of, all the household and Kitchen furniture of every description, my negro man, Tony, and my negro woman, Elizabeth, all to be hers during her lifetime or widowhood and after her death or marriage all to be exposed to Public Sale by my Executor on a reasonable credit and the money arising from the Sale thereof and the offspring of the said negro woman (if any) to be equally divided among my children by my present wife--It is here to be understood that it is my will and desire, that after the death or marriage of my wife, the said Elizabeth and her daughter Milly are not to be sold, but to live with some of my children by my present wife, whichsoever they may think best. I also will and bequeath to my said wife one wagon, all the gears and farming utensils of every description, three head of horses, fifteen head of cattle, all tobe her choice, all my stock of hogs, sheep and poultry, one still and its necessary apparatus, all the Smith tolls, all to be hers during her widowhood, and after death or marriage all to belong to her children by me jointly-- It is my desire that one years provision be laid off for my wife and her family by three indicious men unconnected with either of our families. Item--I give and bequeath to my daughter, Elizabeth Swicegood, wife of John Swicegood, Abigail Beckerdite, wife of Alex Beckerdite, Susanna Harmon, wife of Henry Harmon, the sum of one hundred dollars each.. Also I give and bequeath to my said daughter, Susanna, a negro girl named, Martha. Item--I give and bequeath to my son, John, one dollar, with the sum of One Hundred and Sixty three dollars which he has received heretofore as his full share of my estate. It is my will that the plantation whereon my son, John lives containing two hundred thirty seven and a half acres go to his children and their heirs and assign forever. Item--I give and bequeath to my grand daughter, Rosannah, daughter of my son, John Delapp, a negro girl named Amy. Item--I give and bequesth to my son Daniel, one hundred and forty seven dollars, which he has received heretofore, also one dollar in money. Item--I give and bequeath to my son, Alexander, one dollar, and with the sum of one hundred and fifty seven dollars which he has received heretofore as his share of my estate. Item--I give and bequeath to my son, Mattheas, a horse bridle and saddle worth one hundred dollars, also one dollar in money, also his maintainance his lifetime. Item--I give and bequeath to my son, Robert a negro girl named Polly. Item--I give and bequeath to my son Barnet, one negro girl named Mary. Item--I give and bequeath to my son Hamilton LaFayette, a negro boy named Wesly. Item--I give and bequeath to my daughter, Rosanna,a negro girl named Bess. Item--I give and bequeath to my son, Joseph, a negro boy named Jonas. Item--I give and bequeath to my son Felix, a negro boy named Levi. And finally, I desire that all the residue of my property of whatsoever name or nature be exposed to public Sale by my Executor on a reasonable credit and the money arising from the sale thereof to be equally divided among all my children except my sons, John and Alexander. And I hereby nomiate and appoint my son, Daniel Delapp, sole Executor of this my last will and testament, revoking and disallowing all former wills by me made. In witnessed whereof the said John Delapp, Sr., hath hereunto set his hand and seal, this fourth day of July in the year of our Lord, eighteen hundred and thirty nine, (1839).
