Aug the 2nd 1885
Ever dear sister Sarah,
	I now write you to let you know that I have not forgotten you.  Though 
may think I have been neglectful of you. and you may have a good reason too to 
think so.  but I do hope you will pardon me for my neglect.  I received your 
letter a good while ago and was thinking I had answered but I presume I did 
not.  I about sick for about 3 weeks last Spring with Asthma and strawberries 
came on and then I was too busy to write then and have been busy since.  have 
had several hands off and on to cook for and have no help.  I get but little 
time to write.  I think I have a good deal to do nearly all the time nowadays 
it is no un common thing for me to have from 3 to 5 fine shirts to do up in 
one week + Dear sister I am glad to learn that Bobbie has returned. why does 
he not write to me?  My love to him. also to Elvira a Gaston tell them to 
write.  I believe Gaston has never written me a line since he was married. 
What have done with that sweet little Spurgeon boy you never say anything 
about him anymore.  Kiss him for me. send his picture if it is a poor one.  
Where is [John?] hunter's widow living now? What is Elizabeth [G????] doing 
nowadays?  What is the matter with all of uncle Cullen's folk, that none of 
them ever write me anymore. My love to them and cousin Becken White and family 
and to all my friends out there. Can not mention all their names.  I want you 
to write often and let me hear from sister Mary.  Tell Elvira to receive this 
as to her.  Your sister
