DAVIE COUNTY, NC - LETTERS - Wilhelmina E. Beard, Taylor Family ----¤¤¤¤---- Sept. 19, 1974 Dear Mr. Taylor, I received your interesting letter concerning the Taylor family this morning. I am glad to share with you what I have. I happen to be the last of my family in this small town and have fallen heir to many old family papers etc. Among them was this memorandum sent my Aunt by my Great-great Aunt Jenny Taylor McHenry [McHorney]. It may well supply some of the information you want, but it is incomplete. I have copied it, for it is too fragile and dim to make you a good photostactic copy. The youngest child, James born April 1, 1790 was my Great-great Grandfather. He was well known in this part of Kentucky where he served the Methodist Church as a Circuit Rider. I have his marriage book which I permitted Lynn Bolin to copy last summer. I gave him a "Memoir" of Rev. James Taylor which he used in a preface to the "Marriage Journal" The name "Mariam, Miriam", or as you have it "Meriam" has been handed down it the family as has "White" so your supposition must be correct. I do not have the name Bethiah or Molly Bible. There is no doubt that we are dealing with the same family, for the "Memoir" begins, "The Rev. James Taylor, son of Thos. and Mariam Taylor, was born in Currituck County, North Carolina, in the year 1790. He migrated to Clark County, Kentucky in 1809 and there married Sarah (Sally) Morris, the daughter of William and Sallie Godfrey Morris, in 1811. I have the children of Grandfather Taylor and the ancestry of his wife Sally Morris. If you are interested I will be glad to send it to you. Sincerely, Wilhelmina E. Beard (Mrs. George A.
