The Georgia Enterprise August 22, 1889
A CONDENSED ACCOUNT OF WHAT IS GOING ON OF IMPORTANCE IN THE SOUTHERN STATES.

     Matthew Gibbs, supposed to be the oldest man in the state, died at his 
home, near Center, N. C., Monday morning. Mr. Gibbs was 108 years old, and died 
of sheer old age.
