Petition for sale of Real Estate. It appearing to the satisfaction of the Court, that the Defendant’s James McGuire, Richard McGuire, John Hall, George McGuire and Martha McGuire, are not inhabitants of this State: It is therefore, ordered by the Court, that publication be made in the Carolina Watchman, for six weeks, notifying the defendants, James McGuire, Richard McGuire, John Hall, George McGuire and Martha McGuire, personally to be and appear before the Justices of our Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, to be held for the County of Davie, at the Court House in Mocksville, on the 4th Monday of February next, then and there to plead, answer or demur to said petition, or judgement pro confesso will be taken, and the same heard exparte. Witness, Caswell Harbin, Clerk of our said Court at Office, the 4th Monday of November, A. D. 1847, and in the 72nd year of our Independence. C. Thomas never married and was one of seven children born to James and Eleanor. Thomas' siblings included David McGuire (moved to Madison County, Tennessee); Samuel McGuire of Rowan County, N.C.; Mary Eleanor "Nelly" McGuire Turner; James McGuire (moved to Jersey County, Illinois); Sarah "Sally" McGuire; and Mary "Polly" McGuire.
