DAVIE COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - O.M. Gullett, 5 Aug 1956 ----¤¤¤¤---- *Appeared in the Salisbury Post on August 6, 1956 O.M. Gullett Passes At 83 O.M. Gullett, 83, died at his home at Ellis Crossroads Sunday at 7 a.m. after a serious illness of two weeks. He had been in declining health for some time. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 4 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church by Rev. Jesse L. Ballew and Rev. E.F. Eagle. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 3:30 until 4 p.m. at the church. Mr. Gullett was born Sept. 29, 1872 in Davie County. He was a son of the late William and Mary Elizabeth Gullett. He was educated in Davie County schools. A retired farmer, Mr. Gullett was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was very active in church work until his health failed him. He was twice married, first to the former Miss Sarah Jane Veach, who died Aug. 7, 1941. He was married a second time on Oct. 27, 1946, to the former Mary Mowery of the Franklin Community and who survives. Other survivors include: one son, W.M. Gullett of the Franklin Community; four daughters, Mrs. Emma Miller of East Spencer, Mrs. Annie Swicegood of Cooleemee, Mrs. Lawrence Mauldin of Charlotte, and Mrs. Webster Queen of Linwood; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Rickard of Spencer; 31 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
