J. Hendricks, 67, Davie county farmer and one-time member of the state legislature, died in a Winston-Salem hospital Wednesday. Mr. Hendricks had been in the hospital two weeks and underwent and (sic) operation and his condition had been critical since. Funeral services were conducted from the home at Farmington, at 10:30 o’clock Friday morning and from Courtney Baptist church, Yadkin county, at 11 o’clock. The Rev. W. W. Smoak officiated. Mr. Hendricks was born in Iredell county January 26, 1876, the son of Frank M. Mattie Redmon Hendricks. He was a member of the Farmington Masonic Lodge and of the Farmington Baptist church. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Emma T. Eaton Hendricks; two (sic) P. M. Hendricks, of Lexington, and JW. Hendricks of Statesville; four daughters, Mrs. J. H. Gilley of Madison, Mrs. J. L. Woodleaf, of Clemmons, Mrs. J. S. Coldtrane (sic), of Winston-Salem, and Miss Grace Hendricks, of Statesville; two brothers, F. B. and J. H. Hendricks, both of Winston-Salem, and three sisters, Mrs. C. L. Bagby and Mrs. S. T. Davis, both of Winston-Salem, and Mrs. J. E. Davis, of Courtney.
