The Carolina Watchman, Salisbury, N.C. – June 29, 1876 Tim McGuire hung himself on Monday the 12 of June, in Davie Co. He got up in the night and threw a rope over a joyce log, got on a chair and jumped off. Additional Comments: Timothy McGuire, born about 1820 in Rowan/Davie County, North Carolina to Samuel McGuire and Arminta "Minty" Kelly. Timothy married Eliza Ann Roberts (born April 15, 1820, NC), daughter of Enoch Roberts and Mary "Polly" Rowzee, on May 31, 1842 in Davie County, N.C. They had eight children William Franklin McGuire, Eleanor "Nelly" Ann McGuire Anderson, Forest Paschal Horace McGuire, Thomas Gus McGuire, James Monroe McGuire, John M. McGuire, Sarah J. "Sallie" McGuire Emerson, and Wyley/Wiley Edward McGuire. Between 1880- 1890, Timothy's widow Eliza moved to Dyer County, TN. She died on December 24, 1898 and is buried at Nauvoo Cemetery, Dyer County, Tennessee. Four of Tim & Eliza's children remained in North Carolina (William, Nellie, Forest, and Sallie); the remaining four children moved to Dyer County, Tennessee (Thomas, James, John, and Wyley).
