I JAMES McAFFEE, being of sound mind though weak in body, do make and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in the manner and form hereinafter described. - First I give my body to the dust from whence it came, it is my desire to be decently buried and I do hereby nominate and appoint JOHN McRORIE to act as Executor of my Estate – It is my wish and desire first that all my just debts should be paid as soon as convenient, after full payment of all my debts, I give the residue of my Estate in the manner herein specified – I give and bequeath my Bay mare to POLLY McGUIRE to have during her life and after her death I give the said mare to JAMES McGUIRE – I wish and divide my plantation where JOHNSTON is now living sold on a credit and the proceeds of said land given to JAMES McGUIRE – My pistol I give to my friend RICHARD DUFFEY, also my watch known as the Doctors, the other watch I give to JAMES McGUIRE, also give him my Gun – It is my particular wish that my old stallion should be well treated, I give to my friend EDWARD PARKER – My stallion Cut----, my wagon and gears, my books and all the other property not heretofore named I wish sold, and the proceeds after paying my debts, I wish equally divided for the use and benefit of my friends SALLY and POLLY McGUIRE during their lives, and after their deaths I give the balance remaining to JAMES McGUIRE (this latter gift in checks my Book accounts, deeds, notes, and all species of Debt that may be due me. I now declare this to be my last Will and Testament making null and void all before made by me if any such should be found – Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date before specified. HARBIN, Clerk Additional Comments: Genealogical papers left at the Davie County Public Library in Mocksville NC by granddaughters of Dr. James McGuire indicate James McAffe was uncle to the James McGuire mentioned in his will. The records also state Sally McGuire and Dr. Samuel McAfee never married but had a child together - Dr. James McGuire. James McAfee and Samuel McAfee were brothers who came from County Antrim, Ireland to America. James McAfee was known for raising fine horses and Dr. Samuel McAfee was a respected physician in the Mocksville NC area. Samuel McAfee died in 1847 and James McAfee died in 1848.
