In the name of God Amen I David Linny Ward of the County of Rowan in the state of N. Carolina, Being of sound and perfect mind & memory, do this 7th day of July, 1808 make and publish this my last will & test as follows: 1. / I desire my just debts to be paid, by selling such property as my executors think proper to spare without injuring my legatees. 2. / I give to the children, born of the body of my daughter Levina, me Negro boy named Robbin, also forty seven dollars and seventy-five cents, for the payment of a note given to Samuel Robinson to them and their heirs forever. 3. / I give and bequeath to my daughter Zeruia, me Negro girl named Millie & two hundred and forty seven acres of land which I bought of Joshua Nealy as for Deed, more or less by her agent paying Robert Cole twenty five dollars paying also to John B. Clark fifty dollars to her and her heirs forever. 4. / Also give and bequeath to my daughter Susannah, one Negro boy named Frank & three hundred and fifty dollars which I paid to John Prather for the land wherein she now lives to her and her heirs forever. 5. / I give and bequeath to my son Isaac 200 acres of land wherein I now live. Receiving the from the same to enjoy all the use & benefit there of During both our natural lives also me Negro boy named Jiles, by the said Isaac, paying Robert Cole twenty dollars & John B. Clark twenty five dollars also me cow and calf & four pewter plates to him and his heirs forever. 6. / I give and bequeath to my daughter Rachel two hundred and thirty seven acres of land I bought of Matthew Bussey & one Negro girl name Mary to her and her heirs forever. 7. / I give and bequeath of the children born of the body of my daughter Elizabeth two hundred acres of land which I bought from Thomas Hughes, Samuel Hughes, Timothy Hughes and Peter Fitch & to use one Negro girl named Wingo. Be it remembered that there is forty acres of land the right of it is John Hughes which will be sold for Isaac's taxes by Sheriffs sale and bought by the agent of my daughter Elizabeth the purchase money to be paid by the executor, also four pewter plates to she and her heirs forever. 8. / I tend to my wife Lidia two Negro women namely Nell and Dinah also the house & plantation and land whereon I now live with all the household and kitchen furniture, stock of horses, cattle, sheeps hogs, tools, farming tools and every other utensils on the premises on said land & during her natural life but if my wife Lidia should be left a widow. And as she should think fit to marry again, at that period of time that she should marry it is my desire that two freeholders should be called to value all the property then in her possession which she or her agent should return the valuation to my heirs & legatees obligated at the time of her natural death. I (or&) be further remembered that after the death of my wife Lidia, all the property so lent to her or otherwise un-bequeathed, must be sold and the money arising from the sale thereof, equally divided amongst my children; namely Lavinia, Zeruia, Susanna, Isaac, Rachel & Elizabeth: And hereby constitute my wife Lidia & my friend John B. Clark, executor of this my last Will & Test made the day and year above written. Leaving all other wills whatever, here- fore in witness whereof.
