To the honorable the General Assembly of the Sate of North Carolina

The Petition of Winston CASWELL late Entry taker in the County of Dobbs hereby 
sheweth:

    Whereas your petitioner having received an entry in his offices made by 
Charles MARKLAND jr for Benjamin COLEMAN, which the said MARKLAND said was by 
the particular request of the said COLEMAN for two thousand acres of land soon 
after your petitioner made his return to the Comptroler who reports the balance 
due from your petitioner to the Treasurer -- your petitioner [2 lines are torn 
here-sbg] issued the warrant to the surveyor in whose hands it remained sometime 
before he went to Survey the same when the said Benjamin COLEMAN declared it was 
a mistake of the said MARKLAND and insisted to withdraw his said Entry, which 
your petitioner admitted on the warrant being returned which was done as appears 
by the said warrant with a receipt on the back thereof for the two hundred pound 
Certificates paid to the said COLEMAN, & as the amount is still against your 
petitioner on the Treasurer books, he prays that you will be pleased to resolve 
that the Treasurer give your petitioner (struck through) him credit for the two 
hundred pounds in Ceritficates for the Entry withdrawn as aforesaid and in duty 
bound he will every pray, &c.
