Dobbs County, NC - Court Records File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Grace Williamson Turner Transcribed and posted by Lori Price Cobb (jhcobb@iquest.net) New Bern District Superior Court Criminal Action Papers D.S.C.R.206.326.1 1761-1775 (Broken Series) 1777-1784 North Carolina Dobbs County The Deposition of Frederick Baker taken before me one of the Justices of Dobbs County the 20th Day of March 1782 as follows, viz, that the Deponent was at the late dwelling of Hardy Powell on Saturday the 16th Inst where he saw the said Hardy Dead, that he appeared to have died of Gunshot wounds that he saw two tracks to & from the House, they seemed to have been made by one person and to him appear to be the tracks of Thomas Vause as his walk is rather uncommon on acco't of the lameness of one of his Legs & walks with one toe rather more inclined inwards than the other being asked which foot more inclined inwards says the left Freaderick Baker Sworn Before Will. Hooker J.P. The above Fred'k Baker bound in one hundred thousand pounds to appear at the next Newbern Superior Court in May next to give Evidence against Thomas Vause Acknowledged before Will.
