Dobbs County, NC - Court Records File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Grace Williamson Turner Transcribed and posted by Lori Price Cobb (jhcobb@iquest.net) State of North Carolina New Bern District At a Court of Sessions of the Peace, Oyer & Terminer & General Goal Delivery begun held at New Bern for the District of New Bern on the twenty ninth Day of March, in the first year of the Independence of said State, and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & seventy seven, before the Honorable James Davis Esquire one the Judges & Justices of said Court, appointed in Virtue of an Ordinance of the State of North Carolina aforesaid, by Commission from his Excellency Richard Caswell Esquire, Governor, Captain General & Commander in Chief, in and over said State, under this Seal of the State, to hear, try & Determine all Offences against the Peace and good Government thereof, which may have been committed, or which shall hereafter be committed within the District aforesaid. The Jurors for the State of North Carolina aforesaid upon their Oath present that Richard Barfield late of the Parish of St. Patrick in the County of Dobbs in the State of North Carolina Planter on the seventeenth day of January, in the first year of the Independence of said State, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Seventy Seven, with force and arms, the lose of a certain Thomas Barfield in the Parish aforesaid in the County aforesaid did break and the same without Leave did enter and two apple trees thereon growing did fell, cut down and destroy and other wrongs to him the said Thomas Barfield then these did to the great damage of him the said Thomas Barfield and against the Peace & Dignity of the State.
