At a Court of Oyer & Terminer held at Newberne for the District of Newberne
on the 29th day of March 1777 in the first year of our Indepence

       The Jurors for the District afors'd, upon their Oaths present That
       Cornelus Layrey Edward Williams late of the Parish of St Patrick
       in the County of Dobbs, planters in the District afors'd on or about
       the 22nd Day of February with force and arms at the parish afors'd,
       in and upon William Randall & Charles Saunders then & there being
       in the peace of God & the State did make an assault on Each of the
       sd Randal & Saunders and otherwise Ill Treat & abuse Contrary to
       the peace and good Order and Dignity of the State afors'd.
