Dobbs County, NC - Court Records File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Grace Williamson Turner Edited by Guy Potts Source: Secretary of State 310, Court of Ordinary, Court of Claims North Carolina} Dobbs County } This Day personally appeared before me James Calcote one of his Majestys Justices of the Peace for the County aforesaid William Fort of Nauhunty of about 40 years of age & Person of known Probity and good Character and made Oath to the following Deposition, to wit, That on or about the year seventeen Hundred fifty five or fifty six he was in the Company of Colo James Conner late of Terril County deces'd and heard him declare that he had survey'd the Land of William Davis Deceased, and that he had made due Returns of the same and that there was a Patent for any Person that would apply therefor; And the said Wm Fort further says on his Oath that he was in the Company of John Weaver when he surveyed the same Land Called Davis's Land, and that he and One John Elvinton were appointed Possession Masters by an Order of the Vestry of said County and that they Possessioned the said Lands Called Davis' Land and further saith not Given under my Hand this 25th Day of March 1763 J L Callcote JP __________________________________________________________________________ USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
