Be it Remembered that on this 27th Day of Dec'r 1770 Reuben Hay of the parish of St Patrick in the County of Dobbs Cooper: and William Speight of the same parish and County planter Came personally Before me Tho's Edwards one of his Majestys Justices of the peace of the said County of Dobbs: and acknowledged themselves indebted to our sovereign Lord King George the third Viz the said Reuben Hay in the sum of One Hundred pounds: and the sd William Speight in the sum of fifty pounds: proc. money; to Be livied of their goods and Chattles lands and Tenements Respectively to the use of Our said Lord the King His heirs and successors: upon Condition that if the said Reuben Hay shall personally appear Before our Chief Justice and His associates at the next Court to Be Held for the District of Newbern at the Town of Newbern on the Eleventh Day of May next: then and there to give such Evidence as He shall know against John Barfild Concerning His felonious Taking sundry goods the property of the sd Reuben Hay to the Value of Eight pounds proc money on the Twenty fourth Day of this present Month Dec'r and that He Do not Depart without leave of that Court; then this Recognizence to be Void or Else to Remain in full force_______________ Acknowledged Before me Tho's Edwards __________________________________________________________________________ USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
