The State of North Carolina Dobbs County To any Lawfull Officer of Dobbs County Greeting Seal Whereas Complaint hath been made this Day to me, Moses Feild Esq'r one of the Justises of the Peace for said County by Anthony Mathews on Oath that he hath reason to belive that Charles Bretham and Hardy Garriss and Thomas Grizerd Did on the first Day of February 1790 In the night time of said day Did Brake Into his house By Forse and their did Beat and Wound the Said Anthony Mathews Rob his house of Sundry Viz to one Blanket Sum Laning about 5 or 6 yards one Goard of fat about 3 Gallons and part of Side of Lether and one Bushel of Wheat for a Bagg In all about the value of four pounds Speaca Whitch is Contrary to the Good order of the State These are therefore in the Name of the State to authorize and Require you With proper Assistance to Enter in the Day Time into one or More of the Houses of the Said Charles Britham and Thomas Grizend and Their Make Deligently to Search for the Said Goods and If the Same or any part Thereof Shall be found and allso the Body of the Said Charles Bertham and Thomas Grezard before Me or Some other Justises of the Said County to be disposed of and Delt With according to Law Given under my hand and Seal this 4 day of Febrery 1790 and in 14 year of our Independance Moses Feild JP On reverse: The State agt. Hardy Garris, Thos. Grizzard, & Charles Brittanham, May Term 1790, Executed & found in the Dweling House of Tho's Grizzard a Bag with some Wheat & took the said Tho's Grizzard & Hardy Garris into Custody.
