Dobbs County, NC - Court Records File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Grace Williamson Turner Transcribed and posted by Lori Price Cobb (jhcobb@iquest.net) New Bern District Superior Court Criminal Action Papers D.S.C.R.206.326.1 1761-1775 (Broken Series) 1777-1784 North Carolina } Dobbs County } The Depositon of Isaac Pate of Dobbs County Planter who being duly Sworn Before William Hooker Esq'r one of the Justices Assigned to keep the peace in the said County as follows, Viz He knows nothing of the death of Hardy Powell, has heard he is dead & believes he is The Deposition of John Baker taken before me one of the Justices of Dobbs County the 20th March 1782 as follows, Viz - last Friday evening 12th Instant he Tho's Vause and others were at a Shooting at Mr Pate's he desired Vause to shoot for him or lend him his Gun, he said no shot were Scarce, he promised to Repay him in the morning if he would shoot for him, but he declined it & Sayed he might want it before morning & some time after he applid to him again when Vause sayed he wanted to go away, he had some particular business to do that night which he should perhaps not be able to do if he did not go soon, he did however alight & fired a Gun for the deponent & then went away Sworn Before Will Hooker J.P.
